![]() I've read somewhere that they claimed to be America's answer to KING CRIMSON, but Less successful to emulate the kind of symphonic prog done by the seminal British ones. Posted Sunday, | Review this album | Report (Review #19037)ĮTHOS was another one of those US bands from the 70's who tried more or ![]() "Spirit of Music" has some rather dumb lyrics lamenting about how the rock scene isn't the same in 1976 as it was in 1964, which is really odd, given they were playing prog rock, which is hardly supposed to sound like anything bands were doing in '64! And like the rest of the album, "Spirit of Music" is prog rock.īasically this whole album is like many of the prog rock albums I own: decent enough, worth having, but not essential. The lyrics seeme to more speak of Atlantis in the present tense, rather than the famous rise and destruction (like what EARTH & FIRE did three years before with their "Atlantis" album or ELOY did one year later with "Ocean"). "Atlanteans", as you might guess, is the song describing the cover. The music can be a bit on the clichéd side, lyrics included, like the opening "Intrepid Travellers". ![]() The cover to the LP has an Atlantean theme. The lyrics all have that cosmic sci-fi theme that seemed to be a common theme to many prog bands in 1976. The vocals still sound quite American, but there band had the benefit of two keyboardists, in which Moog and Mellotron are the most dominant. ![]() This album isn't exactly what I call essential, this is an American band trying to be European, but still sounding American (at least KANSAS had the sense of sounding American). The band seemed to be lead by guitarist/vocalist Wil Sharpe, the rest of the band consisted of keyboardist Michael Ponczek, drummer Mark Richards, bassist Brad Stephenson, and keyboardist L. But they were lucky and got signed to Capitol Records, and went to New York and got busy recording this album. Kinda strange to see a prog band coming from an area of the country that tends to be conservative. Thanks to all and Ardour, I donated tonight.ETHOS was a little known American prog rock band that came from an unlikely place: Fort Wayne, Indiana. Hello to Macinnisrr and Fernesto Anzolam I am saddened to see DreamStudio no longer since 2014 or so. I also took the liberty of installing Ubuntustudio-audio-plugins and a few other Ubuntu studio goodies onto my Mate system through Synaptic. Tonight I made my 1st audio and guitar track using Ardour 5 through my old M-Audio Fast Track interface! Was able to add a delay to my vocal track and a bit of Chorus to my acoustic guitar track, saved it, edited and exported the master to an Audio track! Its great to be back and I am loving Ardour 5 on my Ubuntu Mate OS. After a couple days of fooling around with Ardour and Qjackctrl, because of having my playback sound disappear, I finally found out that it was not Qjackctl’s fault, but it was Ardour crashing, after a few successful runs, I found that by creating a New Session and having Jack launched by Ardour instead of launching Jack manually first, was when my audio worked again. Today I am on my studio PC and decided to install Ubuntu Mate 18.04.4 LTS for its customizable abilities and more appealing features to the eye, but also wanted Ardour 5 on it. ![]() I have become a Manjaro Freak through the years with the latest build with Compiz Reloaded as well on my every day computer. I Love UbuntuStudio greatly, but noticed conical has still left it with plain wallpapers, and the menus still have much to be desired in the way Mate and Manjaro have done nicely with. Still an avid Reef Aquarist but with other projects with my Jeep and Guitars. I had drifted away from audio production for about 6 years since I was last here. There is 19.10 but version 20.04 LTS Beta version Focal Fossa is out now. Ubuntu Studio 18.04.4 is currently the LTS edition now in year 2020. Hello all and to you Michael, Its been years since I have been here. ![]()
